Some questions come up very frequently. You may find an answer here.
If you can’t find your answer here, please get in touch.
I’ve checked your courses page and can’t find what we need. Will you develop a course specially for us?
Yes, absolutely.
I’m very happy to work with you to develop training that meets your specific needs.
What’s the best way of doing training: online or in person?
Neither is better – there are advantages to both.
Either way I make the best of the opportunity.
So, chose whichever meets your needs and we can have a great training experience in that time.
Can I book a single training place?
Most of my work is doing in-house courses for organisations.
Occxasionally I do online sessions on popular topics where you can book a single place.
If you want a single place, get in touch and if there is not one scheduled, maybe I’ll put a course on.
What are your usual arrangements for in-person training?
I provide everything that we need, except the room and a flipchart stand.
All participants get a paper copy of my benefits notes and usually a workbook
Usually I arrive at 09:00 to get set up ready to begin working at 09:30
We have breaks mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
We have a half-hour lunchbreak, usually at 12:30
The last task is the completion of feedback forms and we will be done by 16:15
I’m happy to change any of these arrangement to provide what you need.
What are your usual arrangements for zoom training?
I’m happy to do a full-day of zoom training if that is what works best for you, but I find that connected half-days work better.
Either way I try not to do more than an hour of screen-time without having a short break.
I’ll send you a zoom link a few days before the session.
For morning sessions I log on at 09:15 ready to start work at 09:30.
For afternoon sessions I’m online by 12:45 to start at 13:00.
I’ll courier copies of my benefits notes to you for distribution before the session – or if you let me have the participants mailing addresses I can distribute them for you if you cover the costs.
We have very limited funding, can you do some free training for us?
Where an organization has limited funding I sometimes reduce my fees, even though they are already very competitive and my input is very cost-effective.
I have competing thoughts about this.
On the one hand I want to do the training for you because all work is welcome; and training is my professional purpose.
On the other hand, any discount comes straight out of my pocket.
So, in negotiating these discounts I rely on your candour in giving me a realistic assessment of what you can afford.
What’s your cancellation policy?
If you book a course, or a place on a course and need to cancel it, that’s usually fine.
If you do this before the event, but with less than two weeks’ notice I will bill you for the full amount, but I will always be willing to rearrange the course or place, with no further charge, so long as we can find mutually agreeable dates within the following six month.
If you book a course, or a place on a course and, on the day, the course cannot go ahead, or you cannot take part, the full fee will be charged.
Most courses need at least three participants.
